INVITATION TO RIDE THE 94.7 CYCLE CHALLENGE WITH THE SHAMSAAN TEAM
We invite you to combine your love of cycling with practical solidarity for Palestine and ride with the Shamsaan cycle team at the Telkom 94.7 Cycle Challenge on Sunday 19 November 2018.
RAISE VISIBILITY ON THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE: UNITED FOR FREEDOM, JUSTICE + EQUALITY
Wear our cycle top at this and other sporting platforms with high visibility, to demonstrate solidarity with children suffering injustice and deprivation under military occupation and siege. Cycle to break down the barriers that separate human beings that should be regarded equal, regardless of race, colour or religion. With every mile you ride, send a message to the Palestinian people in general and to the CHILDREN in particular, that they are not abandoned.
CHOOSE SHAMSAAN+ CYCLE TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS
Palestinians need our solidarity and financial support. SHAMSAAN meaning 2 suns in Arabic is a South African initiative that supports the needs of Palestinian children and their right to peace, equality, dignity, justice and freedom. Our projects have focussed on creating expanded youth platforms of engagement and providing targeted education and healthcare.
Our inaugural 94.7 CYCLE CHALLENGE IN 2017 raised over R450, 000 of which R330 000 afforded the purchase of hearing aid devices and speech therapy support to 22 children who had as infants, suffered hearing loss as a result of bombing attacks in Gaza. A further R120 000 was capitalised towards growing the Children’s Endowment Fund.
SUPPORT THE CHILD PRISONER FUND In 2018 we will be raising money to support child prisoners subjected to systematic and institutionalized violations by Israeli military detention processes that fail to uphold international juvenile justice standards. Legal aid and allied costs, provisions while imprisoned, trauma counselling, medical and allied care is urgently required.
BUILD A CHILDREN’S ENDOWMENT FUND to increase an investment portfolio that generates on-going income over the long- term to support projects for children.

Help build a people’s movement that brings hope and solidarity to the millions of Palestinians that continue to suffer gross human rights violations, systemic repression, institutionalised discrimination, unlawful killings, illegal settlement expansion on their land, abusive detentions, unjustified restrictions on movement, on-going demolition of homes and forced displacement.
Let us dream of a day when all can cycle in a free Palestine to enjoy the beauty of a land that deserves peace, justice, equality and dignity for all, particularly the children.
